On today in 1999, the late Wu-Tang Clan bastard launched his second report Ni** please On Erica’s label. Previous to its launch, ODB acknowledged that the then-untitled album had two title contenders; God created, grime doesn’t harm folks and Black individuals are God and white individuals are the satan. Ni**a Please was determined upon after the primary two had been deemed too outrageous.
ODB is understood for his controversial nature, and he promoted the challenge with the thought of getting his title in as many headlines as attainable, each optimistic and destructive. Within the time between the discharge of his debut and second albums, ODB was awash in leisure information and tabloids. His antics included elevating bail cash, surviving a shootout with police, interrupting the 1998 Grammy Awards and even popping up in a limousine at a welfare workplace in Brooklyn to gather meals stamps.
Apparently, all press is nice press, because the album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and offered 93,000 copies in its first week. The album was licensed gold by the RIAA the 12 months it was launched.
