Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that unlawful mining actions in Ghana, often called Garamsi, usually are not solely the actions of politicians but in addition contain conventional leaders.
Chatting with 3News, Agyapong careworn that some chiefs are deeply concerned in unlawful mining actions together with politicians.
He recounted an occasion in his constituency when he encountered somebody who owned mining gear. When questioned, they admitted paying an area chief ZAR 2,000 and giving him a sheep in change for permission to mine within the space.
Agyapong careworn that fixing the issue requires a daring acknowledgment of the information, noting: “The issue comes from the constituency. I may let you know that some chiefs are concerned, not simply politicians.” He added that patriotism and honesty are essential to fixing this risk is important and urges all stakeholders to take accountability.
