Breakdancing formally turned a part of the world’s sport, with Snoopy serving to launch the first-ever occasion. Snoop kicked off the competitors on the Place de la Concorde in Paris on Friday (August 9) with a legendary grand entrance.
The West Coast icon strutted onto the dance ground, sporting an American tracksuit and a pair of customized Converse Chuck Taylors with graffiti tags. Snoop and The Neptune’s “Drop It Like It is Scorching” blasted by the world’s sound system, instantly inflicting Doggfather to take two calm steps. He then marked the beginning of the occasion by tapping the “coup de baton” (a picket stick used to announce the beginning of the occasion).
As for the competitors itself, the contestants gathered dancers from everywhere in the world, and the ladies’s semi-finals entered the ultimate stage. The showdown between Japan’s Ami Yuasa and Lithuanian B-Lady Dominika Banevič was fairly one-sided, with Ami Yuasa taking three rounds and profitable gold medal.
Now, onto the elephant within the room. Sure, two People competed within the first ladies’s breakdancing competition–neither of them black. Logan Edra (aka Logistx) and Grace Solar Choi (aka B-Lady Sunny) represented Staff USA, however the girls, descendants of the tradition’s founders, weren’t in attendance. Attention-grabbing.
However with these males taking middle stage of their breakout video games, the bitter style in your mouth could also be settled tomorrow.
